STEAMER ASHORE.

FOUSHING GOES ON THE LAMOCKS,

** 」

PASSENGERS REMOVED.

Leaving. Hongkong on Wednes day and clearing from Swatow on Thursday evening, for Shanghal, the Indo-China steamer Fooshing (Captain J. McAin'sh) was reported yesterday afternoon to be ashore on the Lamocks.

From Messrs. Jardine, Matheson & Co, Ltd., general agents for the company, it was ascertained that about 100 Chinese passengers were on the ship at the time of her stranding, but these have been taker off. It happened that the ChiaNavigation steamerSzechuan,! (agens, Messrs. Butterfield and Swire) was leaving Swatow for Hongkong. She towed out a num- ber of junks from that port, and the passengers were removed in the native craft.

Beyond stating that the No. r hold had ten feet of water and a salvage tug was urgently re- quired, the message "received gave no details.

Yesterday evening, the Wham- poa Dock Co.'s tug Henry Kes- wick left with the Indo-China Co's superintendent and Lloyd's representative with the apparatus needed to render assistance andi☎ to tow the Fooshing off deemed advisable.
