EXPORT CREDITS.
We understand (says a Home paper of December 18), that the Départment of Overseas Trade has recently been in consultation with the Eastern banks and other commercial bodies with regard to the extension of the Export Credits scheme to India, Ceylon, the Straits Settlements, and Hong, kong. While the existing arrange- ment is satisfactory so far as textiles are concerned, it has been: suggested that business with those areas in other "commodifles might be included in the scheme. For ordinary short-term commercial business, however, adequate finan 6,977.29 cial facilities are obtainable through
the banks, so that It is not neces 83,879 94 sary or desirable to grant guarantees in respect of such $320,857.23 business.
