Sheep skins produced at Yulin and Liangchow some times come to the market under the name of Tan skin, but the difference can be casily seen. The hair of the Llangchow variety is short and stiff While that of the Yulin variety is dull in colour, lacking the lustrous tone that distinguishes the Ningsla product. One can also tell the difference by weight. An over- coating of Ningsia wool, which contains enough material to make a Chinese gentleman's long gown of medium size, weighs from three pounds to three pounds and a half while the weight of the Liangchow or Yulin product always exceeds four pounds.
