Rome, November 3.To give special significance to the anniver sary of the Italian victory by the side of her Allies in the great war, and in order to bonear those who were signally indentified with that victory as Commanders-in-Chief by land and sea, the Cabinet uf meeting to-day has decided to make General Armando Diaz and Gem-. eral Luigi Cadorna, Marshals, and Admiral Paolo Thaon di Reval Grand Admiral.

These exalted ranks bave hitherto not existed in Italy, and their crea- tion therefore very warmly marke the nation's gratitude to its "wOC leaders.

beautiful villa at Pallanza in Northern Italy was presented by ex-Service man to, General Cadorna, and on that -occasion-tlié speeches reflected the general feeling of allection felt by the Italian public for the man who' organised the Army for its colossni struggle and led it for the first two years.

This further public manifesta tibu will in the case of Geneml Cadorna gisa special satisfaction to Italians, who have felt that he had been side-tracked and overcritid- ised, in the past owing to war mis- fortunes not within his control and against great odds of a political as well as a military ature.
