Our second innings was not an improvement on our first. Every- thing went wrong. Barnes, Quayle and Barrett were all out 1.b... in two overs! The benefit of the doubt did not come our way, yet one cannot help thinking that the Hongkong side was the better of the two, but not a great deal¦· better. Webster played, pretty cricket, but was lucky, and Hargreaves got runs in a somie- what unorthodox manner. These two batsmen won the match for Hongkong.

In this game nearly everyone on our side justified his place. Gard- ner and Carr caught good catches and Barnes kept wicket in his best Shanghai form. Rawsthorne was very disappointing, both as bowler and short slip. He started by hold- ing two good catches against Hong- kong, but be missed at least three later. His batting was distinctly. useful and if he took pains he could improve.

Hongkong beat Shanghai by an innings; Shanghal beat Malaya by 90 odd runs; Hongkong beat make Shanghai very nearly, but Malaya by 2 wickets. These results not quite, as good as Hongkong and this supposition is about correct.
