CENOTAPH ELAGS.

At the meeting, this afternoon, of the Legislative Council, the Hon. Mr. H. W. Bird asked the following question standing in his

дводної

name:-

Will the Government take the Decessary steps to ensure that the flags are in position On the Cenotaph at all times except during typhoon weather?"

The Hon. Colonial Secretary. replied:

This can probably be arranged for if it is the general desire but as at present advised the Govern- ment inclines to the view that it would be better to adhere to the present practice of placing the Bags in position only on special Loccasions. Unless renewed at very short intervals the flags are likely to become shabby and Funsightly as a result of continuous

exposure to the weather.

SOCIAL AND PERSONAL.

Among those who arrived by the s.s." Malwa” were MrB. Birkett, Mrs. M. Leask, Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Chubb, Dr. J. H. Sanders, Mrs. S. H. Ross, Dr. J. Donclan, Rev. H. Rossiter, Dr. P. Burr.
