ENCOUNTERS DENSE FOG, J.

The Z.R3 passed over here at 8.10 this morning. There was a dense fog and it - was- impossible exactly to observe its direction.
REGRET IN GERMANY.
FRIEDRICHSHAVEN, October 12 Enormous crowds wildly cheered and sang "Deutschland Ueber Alles on the occasion of the departore-of-Z-R-3-for-Lakehurst, New Jersey, which it is expected to reach in eighty hours. The handing over the Zeppelin. to America is bitterly regretted in many quarters in, Germany, A student, said to be insane, was arrested yesterday for possessing a carbine and ammunition with which he is alleged to have. intended to shoot the com- mander of the Zeppelin, in order to prevent its departure.
WIRELESS SIGNAL PICKED UP.
BORDEAUX, October 12.
The wireless station here at 3 p.m. to-day picked up signals from ZR.3. stating, she was passing over the mouth of the Gironde, but not Indicating her direction.”
GERMAN AIRSHIP DESCRIBED. Friedrichshaven, September 7: A real Ger man baptism was given on the first official flight of the ZR-3, the dirigible built here for America.
Wo were wafted into the air at 9.06 o'clock yesterday morning to the strains of "Deutschland Uber Alies, played by a Reichswehr band. We listened to the president of Wurtemburg's address on the radio at 2.30 o'clock. He closed his speech with the title line of the German national anthem. Where we descended the reichswehr grabbed the hand rails and carried us into the hangars: There was no American anthem, no American note, save that supplied by our American observers and the handful of American correspondents on board the ship. It was a German day, and this might have been the pride of Germany's sky fleet rather than America's new rapid airship.
The weather man had fixed up the first perfect day since June when the ship left the hangar, Over Lake Constance a few clouds, hung, but they were soon dissipated by the sun.
QUEER THRILLS EXPERIENCED. We had taken our places in a dead ship, much. as if stepping into an oversized Pullman.car. When the sand ballasts hanging on the hand-rails were removed the ship lived. Fifty men grabbed the rails, more took the nose and tail line, and we were walked out of the hangar as gently as a canoe slips over a silver pond, but even a canoe cannot impart the sense of buoyancy and life which this enormous craft gave one.
The reichswehr stood at attention on either side of the ship. The band crashed into the strains of the German anthem. Five motors coughed and started. Captain Eckener gave the word. We were away. Almost before we could mark a change the earth was 300 feet below us. The troops were like toy tia soldiers, getting smaller every second. The music reached us faintly as our motors, whirred and wo headed over the lake.

WINSTON'S ELOQUENCE.
TERESTING ELECTION ADDRESS.
SMASHING THE BOLSHEVIKS.
(Reuter's Service.)-
LONDON, October 12. Mr. Winston Churchill's election address wholeheartedly supports the Conservatives in their programms of Social Reform and Imperial Consolidation. It declares that as the general protective tariff was not part of the Conservative. programme, he supports the principle of the Safeguarding of Industries. Act and Imperial Preference and asserts that the brief experiment of Socialist minority rule has ended in dismal failure.
The Socialists who still are our rulers, seek to gain votes by enlisting the forces of discontent- in revolutionary movements. Against this double attack of authority and revolt we must fall back on the common sense and enduring loyalty of the nation and deliver a smashing attack to the Bolsheviks and to their devilish work which Mr. Rarasay MacDonald and his Cabinet seek to help and stigcour with foods of hard-earned British money."
