When the her "Mauretania" was nearing New York, the captain received a wireless message, asking if he would officiate at a wedding at Quarantine. The message was from Baron Adelbert von Gontard, who boarded the limer from a customs boat to greet his fancee, Baroness Susanne von Schilling. As the linor was in territorial waters a licence was neces- sary, so the wedding was delayed. Then the Baron wirelessed the Marriage Licence Bureau to keep open until the ship decked. This was done, the licence issued, and the wedding solemnized.
