Leaving Shanghai on September 5 and arriving here yesterday, the s.s. "Sparpedon," Captain J. M. Williamson, reports meeting with cyclonic disturbances, whole gale force, heavy sea from south-east.”

The foregoing probably refers to the typhoon for which the Hongkong local signal was hoisted on Sunday and which is believed to have passed over the Formosa Channel.
