has adopted the Bank Bill by 259 votes to 172. two abstentions; the German Watfonals voted against it..

After an uneventful crossing in the course of which he joined whole-heartedly in dances, tuge-of- war, potato races and other merrymaking besides taking boxing and swimming exercise, the PrinceThere were of Wales arrived here today. on board the s.s "Berengaria." The British Ambassador and State Department officials met him on board and the party went ashore in a private launch.

The Prince in proceeding to Syosset, Long Island, where he will be the guest of Mr. James- Burden. He goes to Washington to-morrow to visit President Coolidge.'*****

Popular interest in the visit is "America-wide" so great is the Prince of Wales outrivalling President Coolidge as a front page feature.

A WIRELESS WELCOME.

NEW YORK, August 29.

As the s.s. "Berengaria" was nearing land, Governor Smith and others wirelessed, via an aeroplane. 7,000 feet above the liner, welcoming the Prince,

It is understood that strict measures are being- taken to shelter the Prince of Wales from the inconvenient attentions of pressmen. However, before leaving the ship in a private. yacht for Glen Cove, the Prince granted a two-minute inter- view to a launch load of reporters, declaring that he was glad to be back to America again.

..

The whole bay was crowded with pleasure craft, filled with cheering crowds, as the s.s. "Berengaria," anchored. Ears were deafened by the screaming of hundreds of whistles; three army planes swooped down and hovered as the Prince stood on the bridge beside the Captain. Asked by the pressmen whether he would marry an American heiress, the Prince laughed and replied "I don't know." He shook hands with a number of the reporters.

LATER.

The Reichstag has adopted the

Reichsta

Dawes' Railways Bill by 314 votes to 1127, thus giving it the necessary two-thirds-majority. The Naw tionalists voted in favour of the Bill.

TENSE EXCITEMENT.

Tense excitement marked, the proceedings. The galleries were packed by a full muster áð Deputies: Various Nationalist amendments were proposed. The London Agreement was first. | rejected, whereupon the House by majorities. averaging 25 ́successively gave final reading to the various Bills carrying out the Dawes scheme that only required a bare majority, the Nationalists voting against the measures. Excitement" rose to fever ›› beat at the commencement of the sating, on the fateful Dawes Railway Bill, requiring a two-third's. majority.

It was noticed that many Nationalists ostenta- tiously flourished red voting cards, denoting no, but slyly dropped white cards, denoting yes, into the ballot uras.

When the result was announced, in deathly silence, showing that the two-thirds majority had bast exceeded by twenty votes--and the definite. ratification of the London Agreement was thus attpad=there were shouts of anger and disgust from the Communists and General von Ludendorf's follwers, who shook their fists at the applauding galleries.

A covering Law, embodying all the bills and the London Agreement, was finally adopted by a plakt majority. The Extreme Nationalists motion of nonconfidence in the Government was rejected by 25% to 94 There were 85 abstentions.

ALLEGED NATIONALIST BRĪBE.

PARIS, August 29,

It is reported from Berlin that as the price of the German Nationalists will be given seats in the withdrawing their opposition to the Dawes' Bills,

Cabinet. Commenting on this report, the "Quotidien❞ says that it will be equivalent to selling the republic, as a Government comprising monarchists could not be considered to guarantee peace. It would be much better to dissolve the Reichstag.
