Growing up overnight, figuratively speaking, was Miss De La Motte's task in her role: Providing the wardrobe for such a character meant a great deal of thought and study for Miss De La Motte. An artist in the matter of clothes as well as acting, she designed all of her frocks, from the simplest little affair of dotted Swiss and voile, which comprised her wardrobe at the so-called awkward age, to the low-cut even- |ing gown of black velvet whigh sho wenrs in the latter part of the picture.
