FLAX.
It is as yet too early to report with any confidence on the new Irish Flax Crop, as although early sown Flax is not looking very healthy, a month of warm weather would make а grear change and later sown Flax is looking well.
The returns for acreage under Flax in Northern Ireland are not yet checked, but it is estimated that 54,000 acres have been sown, being about 10% increase, but against this increase there is none of the old crop in the hands of growers, as has been the case during the past few years.
On the Continent beavy rains did the growing crop some damage, The new crop is, however. quite good. The supplies of new flax are sill very small and demand is keen for any lots marketed,
YARKS,
A decided improvement in demand-has-to-be-reported, with prices tending in favour of sellers. An important quantity of yarns, including both lines, and lows has changed hands... More could have been done but for the scarcity of raw material.
WEAVERS.
Business is much steadier, and orders in bulk have been placed.) Manufacturers find yarns very firm. Tow varieties to the favourite numbers are difficult to procure at current prices.
