On enquiry this afternoon, the "China Mail" learnt from the Hon. Mr. P. H. HAD A BANANA. A CONSTABLE SUMMONED,

As a requel, to the arrest of a

foki by an Indian Police constable and his discharge when taken to the Police Station, the foki brought an action for assault against the constable at the Central Magistracy

this morning.

Mr. Cork appeared for the foki and said that the trouble arose on July 10 over the taking of bananas by the constable from the stall of which the fokt had charge. The constable had taken them without permission or payment and when the foki remonstrated with him he was hit by the constable with a truncheon, the blow being so violent that the doctor consulted said it penetrated the skull. The constable then took the foki to the police station but

when the foki made his statement he was immediately dischargéd.

The complainant appeared with a very much bandaged head to give evidence but His Worship said that he could not hear the case this morning and adjourned it until Monday.
