GIBRALTAR, July 11. "General Primo De Rivera, the Spanish Premier, las arrived at Algeciras ea route to Morocco.

The situation on the Tetuan front is reported to be improving, "The Spanish forces have con- solidated their recent successes and are holding strong positions along the Lasi River.

Note: The Riffs are Berber tribe domiciled in North Morocco, mainl to the east of 50 W. Tetuan is a well-fortified seaport on the Mediter- ranean. 31 miles S.E. by E. of Tangier, the port being a mile below the citadel. it is the head- -quarters of the Calipha, who is chosen' from a list of two candidates presented by the Spanish Government. The north-Spanish zone in Morocco, the scene of the present unrest, lies along the Mediterranean for some 200 miles in length, with average breadth of 60 miles.It extends from the Algerian border to the sea, and westward to the town of El Kasar el Kebir, and then by a straight line to the Adantic. In 1921 the Spaniards had beea extending their zone of occupation, but met with a serious disaster in July when their advance" posts were captured by the Riff tribesmen. Spanish troops were hurried into the zone and eventually succeeded in retaking Nadur and Zilnan. A new policy of pacification was instituted in 1922 and a civilian High Commissioner appointed.
