Mrs. Gladys Caslake Havelock Bostock, of Oxford-terrace, Hyde Park, W., sued Phyllis Earfe, Ltd., hairdressers, of North Audley street, W., for damages for alleged negligence in the application of a hair dye.

Mr. Van den Berg, for Mrs. Bostock, said that two days after she had bad Inecto treatment for her hair her head was in such a bad state that a specialist had to be called in. She was given treat- ment free, as an advertisement for Phyllis Earle, Ltd, and complain ed that it was given by two students.

Dr. Percy Arthur Storey, of DO Marylebone-road, W., said he had to order Mrs. Bostock's hair to be cut off.

Dr. Ernest Graham Little, skin specialist, of Wimpole-street, W., cross-examined by Mr. J. A. Hawke, K.C., for the defence, said some dyes, which were based on silver nitrate, had the effect of turning a person's face blue or violet. Harmless drugs, too, sometimes produced unfortunate and unexpected results on a patient. Some foods, such as lobster, crab, oysters, and straw- berries,

possessed the same idiosyncrasies.
