PRODUCER,
The public in general has been led to believe that motion pictures, our greatest "infant industry," are more or less a recent invention. and that the new popular amuse-.. ment came into being only a few years ago."
It is true that the development of the motion picture is a matter of recent years, but the interesting information has just come to light via London that Confucius, the Chinese sage was familiar with the general principle of motion pictures as far back as 300 B. C. In ancient Cuina he experimented with what were, then known as :bado shows."
The indications are quite clear that these shadow shows were the forerunners of motion pictures as we know them to day. Therefore, it might not be amiss to call Confucius the first motion picture producer.

Consequently he found himself forced many times to take blind gambles as the sun would be out one minute and in another would be hiding behind the clonds.

MOONLIGHT SCANDAL!

"Midsummer Madness"
will tell you in a manner that will please and startle. This is the new William De 'Mille production which has taken its place beside the really Sue pictures of the cur rent season, It will be shown at the Star Theatre for the last time to-night
The story, adapted from Cosmo Hamilton's society novel, "His Friend and His "Wife," centres around two young married couples who are close friends One of the husbands imagines himself in love with his friend's wife, and she," neglected by her husband and starving for romance, yields to a temporary infatuation. The results are highly interesting and lead to a climax that for sheer dramatic intensity has seldom been equalled on the screen.
