Daisy Ashford's Young Visiter." We have none of us forgotten the appearance and the success of Miss Daisy Ashford's "Young. Visiters, but there only now comes out a little romance co nected with the royalties which that little book earned (says John London's Weekly.) When it ap-. peared Miss Ashford was engaged to be married to Mr. James Devlin, but they possessed no funds with which to buy a farm they coveted in the South of England. The income from "The Young Visiters" enabled them not only to hoy the farm, but to stock it. andin due course a young "visiter" arrived in the Devlin family, so here, surely, is věry complete literary romance.

It seems that Signor Mussolini is

Their outrages, by way of reprisal on their political opponents' after the General Election, beggar The Vatican was description. moved to a strong protest, and this protest coming from a quarter with which the Dictator does not want to quarrel, has no doubt made its impression on him. In Pisa five Fascist leaders (including two lawyers and a mayor!), who had conducted or instigated "punitive expeditions," have been arrested and the Provincial Federation Prefect dissolved, whilst the

of Pisa has been deposed for allowing the outrages. Steps have also been taken, we learn, against the Fascist organisations id Turin and elsewhere. At a meeting of the Fascist Grand-Council in Rome Mussolini is recently, Signor reported, to have demanded the most severe discipline, and to have appealed to his followers to "co operate in the work of the Govern ment instead of embarrassing it by independent action," If Signor Mussolini con succeed in purging hit pany of its gunmen, and of the brutal spirit which has so long dominated it, he will not only restore, the good name of Italy abroad, but he will undoubtedly strengthen his own posidos: at home..
