Replying to a resolution assuring him of hearty support, he said the Labour Government was doing its best but he could not assure them it would always do what they wanted. The Goverment had been justified in what it had done.
It might have made mistakes and it might not have hid the true faith of Empire, but the great thing they had got to do was to impress the public opinion not only of Britain but of the world that the Labour Government was a practical thing and a good thing.
