SECRET TREATIES DOOMED.
LABOUR'S NEW POLICY,
ALL NEW PACTS TO BE TABLED.
OPPORTUNITY FOR DISCUSSION.
LETTING THE NATION KNOW WHERE IT STAND
(Reuter's General Service),
LONDON, April 1. The Government's latention to cally out the Labour policy of no secret treatles was announced by Mr. Arthur Ponsonby, Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs, in moving the second-reading of the Treaty of Peace with Turkey Bill..
He urged the passage of the Bill so as to allow ratification of the Treaty without delay.
The Government desired renewal of normal Anglo-Turkish relations as early as possible,
The Government intended to lay every Treaty, when signed on the table in both Houses 21 days before ratification:
The publication of important treaties would be discussed if desired; thus secret treaties would be impossible. (Ministerial cheers).
The Government would also Inform the House of all agreements and understandings which might in any way bind the nation to specific action in certain circumstances.
Mr. MacDonald, replying to criticisms of the treaty, declared there was much in it with which everybody disagreed, but it must be ratified other wise there was not going to be an end to the state
of war,
He stated that the Dominions and India had agreed to ratification.
The debate was adjourned until next week.

TREASON TRIAL OUTBURST,

MUNICH, April 1. -Ludendorff was acquiited and von Hitler sentenced to five years' detention in a fortress. LATER.

The sentences virtually amount to an acquittal since the period of detention has been deducted.
The closing scenes of the trial were marked by fervent outbursts on the part of Ludendorff to which the spectators responded enthusiastically.
Ludendorff rose when the verdict announced and protested that his acquittal when his colleagues were convicted was an insult to his uniform.
The President of the Court sharply rebuked the General, who again became violently excited and demanded to be arrested when the police tried to remove him quietly through the courtyard.
(The court was packed to suffocation when the sentences were read. Many were unable to gain admission. Ludendorff was in the fuli uniform of a General, and some of the other accused persons were also in uniform, wearing all their War medals and decorations. The verdict was received quietly by the public but the accused, especially Ludendorff, were loudly cheered by crowds outside.
