OUR WATER SUPPLY. FIGURES FOR FEBRUARY.

In the various reservoirs on the Hongkong side 1,433.89 million: gallons were stored on March, according to the latest water return, as against 755.44, a little more than half the quantity, last year. The storage in the Kowloon reservoir shows a similar improve- ment, the respective figures being 254.0 million gallons and 181.56 million. The consumption per head per day was a little higher last month in both cases. The quality of the water is still regard- ed by the Government Analyst as satisfactory, Tytam is at present 15 feet 8 inches below overflow, as against 10ft. last year and the Kowloon reservoir is Toft, 3 ins. below, against 19 ft. 4 ins. Our total rainfall this year up to February 29 has been 5.59. Ins.; last year it was just over half an inch.
