MURDER BY BOYS.
I VICTIM'S FOOT SENT TO
FATHER.
On December 10 Berthold Falk; alad of 16, apprentice in a motor- car works at Rheine, Westphalia, disappeared from his parents house. The police failed to find him. On December 12 Berthold's father received a letter intimating that if he threw a packet con- taining 25,000 marks out of the window of a'car at a certain place and time he would receive news of his son..
He did not obey, and on Decem- ber 19 leather case which he had lost was found in the street and taken to him. Inside was a human foot to which was attach- ed a label bearing the words, "Berthold Falk's left foot."
A few days later the father received 'nnother letter stating that if 50,000 marks were not deposited at a certain place he would receive his son's left hand, At the end of the week a third anonymous letter arrived with an order to display in the window of Falk's house how much he was willing to pay.
This was done, and the father saw two lads, Willi Deiters, aged 16, and Paul Krause, 18, looking up at the window. He followed them and caught phrases of their conversation which justified his
going to the police to denounce the two as the murderers of his son.
