"The Old Highland Stook.".

Sir Murdoch Macdonald, M.P., for Inverness-shire, presided at the 52nd annual gathering of the Glasgow Inverness-shire Assocta- tion in the City Hall. There' was a large attendance, and during the evening a musical programme, followed by a dance, was provided. Sir Murdoch Macdonald said the Highlands had given them all clean constitutions, healthy minds, and a desire for education. It was their duty to maintain in the county such a population as would continue to pour out into the world- as the men and women of the North had been going out very much, he thought, to the advantage of the world generally. He would continue to do his utmost in endeavouring to keep the people at home in comfort so that the stock-the fine old Highland stock -would
