What is more, many winning Exhibition Pictures bave been obtained in this way.

The advice against photogmphy against the sun 19 given to amateure, especially beginners in order to keep them on the safe side and to help them secure good clear pictures before they attempt this more risky procedure-risky owing

to the

danger of fogging and under exposing the plate or film.

The secret of successful results in this direction is in shielding the leng from the direct or reflected rays of the sun. This may be done by either using a proper lens shinde, or shielding the lens with a hat or obtaining some other object that will cast a shadow over the lens. For this reason the more expensive Reflex Cameras are always built with sunk lens panels-that is the lons sunk inko, the camera, some times as much as two inches between the front of the lena and the outside of the Camera.

Photography in arrow winding streets especially those with high buildings on either side is perhaps

the easiest branch of this kind of work because of the opportunities of placing the camera in the shadows of the houses,

Negativer should be kept on the thin side, and if details are present and contrast is required, all makes of paper are supplied in both normal and vigorous or contrasty, This applies to Bromide papers as well as gaslight.
