A terrific explosion believed to have been dye to the ignition of dust in a com products factory to nelahbouring town of Pekin, resulted in many deglied and injured. The explosion was follow ed by a fire which spread to the adjoining buildings and burned, fiercely, preventing access. Eighty persons have already been sent to hospital,

MARSEILLES, January 3.
Following the discovery of charred aluminfum' and burnt pieces of rubber-coated fabric, in various places on the west coast of Sardínia, an observation balloon bas by wireless announced the discovery of the wreckage of the "Dixmude" 120 feet deep in the sea south of San Marco. The wreckage was strewn for a radius of half a mile. Dragging opera- tions have begun. at Bizerta and a report states that two bodies have been recovered in the sea cď Anpexado.
Of the 76 persons employed on the nightshift in the building where the explosion occurred, only 28 are known to have escaped. Physicians fear many in hospital will succumb to severe burns. The Federal District Court has sustained the sale of 5,700 German dye chemical patents to the chemical foundation which was incorporated by the Alien Property Custodian during the war.
