DELUSIONS,
WIFE'S UNAVAILING EFFORTS.
The story of a wife's desperate but unsuccessful attempts to pre vont her husband committing suicide was told by Mrs. Dorey, of Weston-road, Acton Green, at the inquest, at Chiswick, on her hus band, Robert.

A MAN WHO WAS TRIPLETS,
BY A NATURALIST.
Since no medical authority has come forward, to explain the pheno- tepun of the Vinau who had twins,'- ns. recorded in the China. Mail, may a temą, naturalist point on that the strange case would have been more correctly described as that of a man who was triplets"?
Readers will feinember that the supposed twins were found in a tumour on the man'a side, and that they were represented only by some teeth and hair, with the rudiments of jawbonca.
These fruguments of undeveloped humanity did not, however, repre Bent the ann's children, but his brothers. It was, in fact, a case of the incomplete formation of triplets, only one of the three being a per- fect male embryo.
Similar cases of more or less com- pleta union of twins or triplets aro not very uncommon, culminating in the almight independent existence of "Siamese twins"; and one case, almost identical with that recorded in Reynolds's," came under the writer's antice at Anritsar, in India. where an English surgeon removed from a tumour in the body of a young nativo man two partially developed upper jaws with teeth, above which straggling tufts of hair had been growing from the tumour.
These were identified as the hair's of moustaches which would have been worn by the owners of the teeth, thus indicating their intended

It would be interesting to know whether there is any scientific reason for the furt that in these cases only the upper jaws, with teeth and moustachigs, should have had continuous life.
LIFE SENTENCE DESIRE,
THE "CAT" FOR BLACK- MAILERS.
Sentence of five years' penal ser- vitude was passed at the Old Bailey on George William Bayaca, 67, book-keeper, who pleaded guilty to sending a letter demanding £ió to Sir Charles Walpole, chairman of the Surrey Quarter Sessions.
Baynes asked the Recorder, Sir Ernest Wild, K.C., to give him the finiximam term of penal sarvitude:
Sir B. Wild: That is for life. Do you desire that?
Bayner: Yes.
Inspector Mitchell, of Bootland Yard, said that Baynes said he know nothing about Sir Charles Walpole, But merely picked him out bap- Hazard through seeing his name in the papers.
