TENANTS BEWARE.
RESPONSIBLE IF, OWNER IS DISABLED.
LANDLORD "SANK ENOUGH"
Disability on the part of the owner of No. 8, Rose Terrace, Kowloon, rendered it necessary for the Sanitary Department to serve a notice on the Japanese tenant, named T. Tanaka, drawing attention to the "brokan and de- fective condition of the cement rendering on the kitchen walls” of ; that house.
Mr. J. Fraser, secretary to the Sanitary Board, explained what had been done to Mr. E. W. Hamilton at the Magistracy when a summons! was heard, in which the tenant was defendant. After trying about ten times, the Department could not serve the notice on the owner and according to the Public Health and Building Ordinance, the agent becomes responsible, and failing him, the occupier.
