The point of this passage of Scripture chosen for the Epistle is obvious. The Advent season now so close at hand is the annual rem-i inder of the Church of the new dispensation under which the Christian lives. Through the in- carnation the national dream of the prophet becomes a universal real- ity and the name and motto for the new year which is indelibly stamped upon the Christian's con- ciousness is, indeed, "The Lord our Righteousness."
THE GOSPEL.
The Epistle points forward to the Advent of Christ. The Gospel looks backward over the year, that is passed. For this Sunday is the last Sunday of the Church's Year and the feast of St. Andrew is the Church's New Year's day. As we look back over the past we are bid-|
