ROBBER CAPTURED.
After a fussilade of revolver shots and a running pistol duel in Portland Street and Jordan Road | in Kowloon at about 7 o'clock last night à desperate armed robber was captured by Detective Ser geant Fender and a Chinese lukong of Yaumati Station, The latter? pluckily jumped from the side-car-- of a motorcycle to effect his. capture. In spite of a badly injured. knee cap he closed with the robber who had an automatic pistol in his hand, and succeeded in bringing" the fugitive to the ground.
An armed robbery, had been committed at No. 145, Portland Street at about 6.30 p.m. Four robbers, all armed with revolvers. or pistols, had trussed up the Inmates and taken $307 lu money from a chest of drawers, One" of the occupants managed to. escape into the street where he met two lukongs. These two officers entered the, house and chased the robbers through the front door. In the street, the rob- bers fired at the constables who returned the fire, but nobody was was hit. Sergeant Fender arrived on the scene in a motor-cycle and one Inkong got into the the side- car to follow one of the despera does who had dispersed. He was followed into Jordan Road where the Chinese constable jumped-from-. the side-car before it had pulled up. He then closed with the robber who was trying to fire at hint with Jaffee, an automatic. When overpowered
