Advice to an Author,
"In spite of the acid criticism of superior people, a good love story with a happy ending will always remain the most popular type of novel."
-LADIES' PAPER, If you're starting as an author, And you're anxious to succeed, You must write the sort of novels Which the Public like to read. It is quite a simple business, You can take the fact from me;
My advice is worth attention, And I do not charge a fee.

In a little green lane, where the
wild roses blow, There's a cottage I'm longing to
600;
At the window, I know, are two
fond eyes aglow With a welcome that's only for
me,
There's dear little garden, so trim,
and so neat,
Where I'm longing to wander
again And I've ne'er heard a carol so
clear and so sweet As the birds sing in Apple Tree
Lane.
Refrain.
By the high-brow falk-in-Chelsea, Where such products freely grow, You'll be bitterly derided, But you needn't mind the blow; With whatever caustic brilliance They may exercise their wits, While they're eating eggs and bacon You'll be dining at the Ritz.
