C.S.C. CLUB,

ANNUAL MEETING HELD

LAST NIGHT.

At the annual meeting of the Civil Service Cricket Club, helif last evening, Mr. J. R. Wood, Vice- President, occupied the chair. He was supported by Mr. Calin Sara (Hon. Secretary) and Mr. G. H. Haskett (Hon. Treasurer).

In moving the adoption of the report and accounts for the past year the Chainman said that the number of members was very satis- factory. There were 244. He refer- red with feeling to the death of one! of their members, Mr. Lloyd.

A message of congratulation had been sent to Sir Claud Severn on his being knighted.

The financial position of the Club was not so good as it was last year. They were really $300 down on the The report and year's working. accounts were adopted.

Mr. Haskett moved an alteration to rule 7 dealing with the annual subscription. He moved that this! be increased from $10 to $15. He pointed out that this was the obvious thing to do owing to the Club's financial position. The sun of $10 was very low in view of all that was provided by the Club.

Mr. Tacchi seconded the motion.

its Mr. Grimmett moved

ал amendment that the annual subscription be doubled-$20. Mr. Glanville seconded the amend- Vment.

The Secretary spoke in favour of the motio and pointed out that as far back as 1908 it was proposed that the subscription should be raised from $10 to $ts. If it was considered necessary for 1909 it was surely necessary i 1923.

Mr. Brown thought the subscrip tion should not be altered. If they put it up they would lose a lot of money.

Mr. Hollidge spoke against the increase in subscription, stating that the members ought not to be asked to pay more unless it was going. to be something to benefit the present members and not for some mythical club house which night or might not materiilise.

On the amendment being put to the meeting it was lost, but the [original motion that the subscrip- tion be raised trom $10 to $15 was carried. by 35 votes to 12.

Mr. R. S. Vergette moved that original members of the Cub when it was founded 20 years ago and who had remained const! I mem- bers of the Club he elected life members. Tils was secoided by Mr. Deakin,
