COASTWISE:
Owing to the unsettled political state of the country generally the freight market has been dull throughout the month, but more particularly during the first half, and beyond enquiries for tonnage for coal cargoes thère has been little else offering.
Towards the end of Jone the mili- tary situation improved in and around Amoy and Swatow and the markets there revived considerably resülting in a fair amount of tonnage heing fixed to bad at Nowehwang and/or Dolny fur these ports.
The rice trade from Saigon to Hongkong and Canton has also been interfered with owing to the dis-; turbed state of Canton and vicinity. Apart from a few enquiries for foit- mage at low rates there is little to report in that direction.-British Chamber of Commerce (Shanghai).
