GIANT PARACHUTE.

AIR TRAVEL SAFETY DEVICE,

Attention is being directed again to the barrying of parachutes in acroplaúcs. It has been stated that if the occupants of the air express toich crashed in France recently had had parachutes, the lives of some, of them would have been saved, writes an air correspondent.

Types of parachutes are being tested by the Air Ministry, and every, new war plano now being produced has provision for para. obutes.

Parachutos tested have shown themselves moro. than 90 per cent. officient, but the tests are directed; to finding a 100 per cent, offi- cient" parachute.

A now safety iden is being in- vestigated in regard to big com- mercial air expresses, etc..

Instead of issuing a parachute to each individual traveller it is sug gested that in the event of a mishap
