One of the most remarkable cases in the courts has resulted in the arrest, on the charge of murder, of Fred Miller. Driving his car at high speed. Miller ran into a group of five persons who were waiting for a car. Miss Mindred E. Holt and John P. Gasson were in stantly killed. Mrs. Gasson was hurled some distance, and her little baby, Ruth, three years old; was tor. from her arais. The baby actuaily fell into the mutor car, Miller did not stop, and it was the discovery of the baby, u vinjured, in his home, that led to his arrest.

The ninth annual convention of the Girl Scouts was welcomed by Mrs. Calvin Coolidge, wife of the Vice-President of the United States and Honorary Commissioner of Girl Scouts. The replies to the J'address of welcome were delivered by Mrs. Juliette Low, of-Savannah, Georgla, founder of the Girl Scouts, and Mrs. Herbert Hoover, wife of the Secretary of Commerce and herself National President of the Girl
