At a meeting of the Chinese Gen-. eral Chamber of Commerce yester- day afternoon to discuss prepara- tions for the British Empire Trade Exhibition in 1924, presided over by the Chairman, Mr. Li Po-kwai, the Hon. Mr. R. H. Kotowall an nounced that he 'understood from" the Hon. Mr. P. H. Holyoak (chairman of the joint committeo of the two Chambers) at the Hong- kong Government would grant La sum of about $150,000 to defray freights, passages and living ex- penses incursed by the exhibitors. In addition to this a aum of $100,000 would be allotted as a Handguarantee fund against losses on the
