A girl of 18, Miss Evelyn Lyons, of Escanaba, Michigan, was shown to have hoaxed the doctors, news- papera, and the public.
Dr. Harry J. Defnet, the city health officer, and several doctors, have declared that in attempting to take the girl's temperature they had exploded' · several. clinical tbarmometers, but that her tem perature for more than a fortnight had exceeded 114deg..
A thermometer registering as high as 124deg. was obtained, and it showed 115.6deg.
The girl contended that she felt well: The doctors issued bulletins. explaining that the cree was prob... ably due to an abrosus on the brain.
