At the Crini m Sessions, yesterday afternoon, before the Puisne Judge (Mr. Justice Gom- pertz) and a jury, Lam Chuen, the second accused in the, Kennedy Town murder case, was acquitted of the main indictment after a trkaj lasting two days, Lam Chuen, however, stands indicted on two further counts of robbery at Kennedy Town on February 9 and being in unlawful possession of arms on February 10,

Thus ended a case that has been sensational in many ways. To commence with, Inspector Kent and his subordinates at No. 7 Police Station, when the report of the murder and robbery was made, had but the frailest clue to follow up. The young girl, who throughout the case in court has been spoken of as the "concubine," said to Inspector Kent: "I know of a fruit vendor, who can possibly tell you the address of Wu Kwong- chuen" (the acting cook, who was j the only man recognized). The clue was followed up and Wu and another man, who bolted on the

ter dwelling on the evidence for the prosecution, he reminded the la jury that the prisoner at the bar, although only a coolle, was entitled to just the same measure of justize as a price. "There is no greater of tragedy than a miscarriage justice. There is no-question--of imprisonment in this case, If later it is found that there has been a miscarriage of justice it will be too late." In another passage, Mr. Campbell Prosser said:' need not remind you that Christ died on the cross equally to save the prisoner at the bar as to save any of us." He described the case against his prisoner as one of those extreme cases of circumstantial evidence.
