CANTON, March 23.
Some of the veriacular papers stata that the Hongkong Govern ment is interested în a report that! Sun Yat-sof intende starting on bis project to countrust a deep-ses port at Whampoo, as soon as funds will pornit. It is also stated that on official has been sent to Canton to interview. Sun on the subject.
Opinions are divided in Caaton 28 to whether Shum Bung-ying will attempt to oust Sun in the near future. The anti-Sun press roakes cipital of the reported discussiona Between, Shum and the Funnun leaders and to the movements of the Kiangai troops said to be marching against Sun in compliance with ordera from the North On the other, hand, the pro-Bun press claims that the Yunnan troops are loyal to Sun and point to Chan Tak- tsun's rout in Kongmoon as an exemple of Sun's power.
SUGAR BOOM.

During the week-end sugur prices silvanced again, there being a atrong demand for Java Whites. However, activity is not.confined to this grade and Chinese importers seem to be endeavouring to bring all the sugar they can into the Colony.
By the coasting steamers "Am- herst" and "Reims" there arrived. large quantities of what is known Chinese brown sugar which polarizes lower than Java or Philip pine brown sugar,

NEW TERRITORY, WORK.
The annual report on the work of this Society for the year 1922 bus the following preparatory note :-
This Society which is controlled jointly by the Union Church and To Tsai Church, was started in the year 1904 to work in the New Terri tories.
The New Territories is the coun try which lies between the base of the Kowloon Peninsula and a line drawn from Mirs Bay to Deep Bay.. It comprises on area of 376, square miles, of which 90 square miles is on the adjacent islands and 286 on. the mainland. There are a number of market towne and about six bun- dred villages, the population being estimated at about 100,000.
Under an agreement with China in 1809, this area was leased to Great Britain for 99 yours. The responsibility for the moral and religious welfare of these people devolves upon the Christian com- munity of Hongkong.
As the result of the Society's work there are now more or less organised churches at Tsun Wan, Castle Peak, Yun Long, Tai Po Lam Teun, Cheung Chow, Tai O and Sha-lo-wan, where regular ser- vices are held, and there ja baptised membership of approxi- mately 500. Work in also being carried on less regularly at San Tin, Sha Tin, Sheung Shui and Lown.
Schools under the Society's con trol or in buildings occupied by it are established at Taun Wan, Tai Po, Lam Taub, Cheung Chow, Tai D, Sha-lo-wan and, Yun Long, These are attended, by approxi mately 200 scholars. Thus the coming generation is being looked after with a'viaw to future poten- tislitlen. A MM

PROSPECTUS.
(a) This Company has been formed principally to dequire by parakas
(under the terms of the Uption and subsequent eprrespondence thereon hereinafter mentioned) from Lane Crawford Limited (whose Registered Use is ituste at Ice House Street, Victoria, Hongkong) and develop by building thereon the land registered in the Land Offee as Section A of Marine Lot No. 7 and commonly known The Wiseman Site". situate in Des Voeux Rosd Central Hongkong. The purchase price of - the land is $1,000,000, $300,000 of which will be satisfied by the issue. to Lane Crawford Limited of 30,000 shares of the Company credited an-fully paid up. Of the remainder of the purchase price, 8148,781.60 will be paid in cash, and the balance of 8551,118,50 will be satisfied by the taking over by the Company from Lane Crawford Limited of the Mortgage (repayable on the 30th April 1987) for that amount now subsisting on the property in favour of Lane Crawford Limited and carrying interest at 8% per annum.
In addition to the purchase price payable as above, the Company, will under the Option hereinafter menticaed, pay the brokerage of one per cant do the purchase price amounting to $10,000 which is referred to in paragraph (b) hereof, and also indanify Lane, Crawford Limited to the extent of 826,394.30 in respost of the Plans and Specifications referred to in paragraph (c) hereof.
The Option for the acquisition of such land bears date the 8th day. of March 1925 and is made between Lane Crawford Limited na Vendors of the one part and Mr. W. E. L. Shenton, one of the partners in the firm of Deacon, Harston and Shenton the above mentioned Solicitors to the Company, as Trustee for the Company of the other part. A copy of this Option and the subsequent correspondence there on can be fuspected at the offices of the said Solicitore to the Company (No. 1 Des Voeux Road Central, Hongkong) at any time during business hours.
