KENNEDY TOWN MURDER.

TWO MEN CHARGED.

The hearing commenced before Mr. J. R. Wood yesterday into the charge of murdering a Chinese woman at Kennedy Town,on February 9. The two defendants were: a houseboy employ where deceased was staying and a street coolie.

Mr. T. M. Hazlerigg, Assistant Crown Solicitor, 'prosecuted and outlined the facts of the murder, details of the robbery and the arrest of defendants at Shaukiwan by Det. Sub-Inspector Field.

Only formal evidence was taken, including Dr H. R. Esler's deposi- tion as to the cause of death.

Further evidence was heard this afternoon.

THE ROYAL CRADLE,

IN USE AGAIN.

The Royal cradle, which, bas been lent to Princess Mary for her baby, is a beautiful and commodi- ous affair made for Queen Victoria at the birth of the Princess Royal; afterwards the Empress Frederick, in 1840. It was used not only by all Queen Victoria's children, but by King Edward's and King George's including Princess Mary herself. It has silver fittings and is beautifully furnished with sheets of Irish lawn trimmed with Valen- ciennes lace, blankets of white Yorkshire wool, and eider downs embroidered with the Royal arms.
