A letter from the Minister of Finance to the Finance Committees Senate and Chamber shows that the credits Parliament are asked to vote for expenditure in the Ruhr for the first four months of 1923 amount to 196,000,000 francs from which 36,000,000 should be deducted as the amount the troops in the Ruhr cost anyhow if they remained at

At a meeting of the Costs of Occupation Com- mittee Mr. Wadsworth, American representative, announced that the American Government did not agree to the Allied proposal to deduct the value of German ships seized in America from its $250,- 000,000 claims for the costs of the American army on the Rhine but was willing to discuss a scheme for spreading the payment of costs over a number of years.
