Muichi Interest han boon roused in Masonic Bircles by the researches of the Peterborough City Librarian, Mr. W. J. Willcook, into the his- tory of the gold ring dredged from the River Nen at Peterborough in The Steamship 1856, and which is now in the British Museum, says a home

Mr. Willcock's interest in the avinbolism of the building guilds of medieval times has led to dis- coveries which prove that the ring was worn by one of the Master Masons of Peterborough Abbey) during Saxon times. -

Many authorities are of opinion that a building guild, known as the Comacino Masters, came

from Como, in Lomisirly, after St. Augustine re-introduced Christianity into Britain and erected the Saxon Churches in this country. This guild had for its distinguishing Badges the Lion of Julah and Solo- mon's knot. Solomon's knot is one of the signs on the Peterborough ring, and the triple triangle, the other sign on the ring, is a varin- tion of Solomon's seal,
