MILITANT WOMEN COTTON-MILL OPERATIVES,
SHANGHAI, December 22nd. Owing to a 40 cent fine being imposed by the foreman, two hundred women employes of the Handah Cotton Mill at Poolung (Shanghai) attacked and wreck- ed the mill offices, despite resistance by the male staff reinforced by a fire hose. The women were subsequently routed by detachment of police with carbines which were snatched from policemen. Several male employés, including the offending foreman, were injured.
The mill has beon.closed.
