POISONED BY TRIFLE:

SICKNESS OF.50 WEDDING *QUESTS.

The inquiry into the illaess of 50 of the 80 guests at a Wallasey, Cheshire wedding reception some weeks ago has shown that the cause was the

trille which was caten.

It has been found to contain bacilli belonging to the Garrtner group of food, poison germs. The bacilli were also found in the blood taken from the infected persons.

How the germs got into the trillo has not been discovered. Four trifles were prepared for the wedding reception, and an unconsumed port- ion his bean analysed by Professor Beattie, of Liverpool University, whose report has been submitted to the Wallasey Health Committen.

The Gaertner germ is a food poison of a virulent nature discovered by Professer Gaertner about 30 years ago.
