INCREASE OF CAPITAL.

The fourth ordinary genetal meet ing of the Chino Light and Power Company (1918) Ltd. was held this morning. Mr. R: G. Shewan presided mad there were present; Dr. J. W. Noble (Director), Mr. Poon I Cho (Becretary), and the following share- holders Mears. E. M. Ellis, A. S. Ellis, A. A. Cordeiro, J. Coppin, A. A. Botelho, J. M. Alves, 8. F. Chubb and W, J. Hawker.

DEMANDS.

SHANGHAI, November 9. Five thousand employees of the Nanyang Brothers Tobacco Company yesterday afternoon joined the Poo any strikers-Reuter.

SHANGHAI, November 9. The Nanyang Brothers' strikers resumed after the company had con ceded most of the extensive demands put forward.

VALUATION OF PUBLIC PROPERTY.

LEGISLATION AGAINST FOREIGN CONCERNS.

A bill has tuen i.troduced into the Senate prohibiting foreign banking corporations from accepting monty or securities either as time or. check ing deposite.

The enactment of this Bill into law would force banks to incorporate under Philippine laws and become merely exchange banke or retire from the Philippines.

Foreign banks are not subject to the internal revenue laws which the Lill's sponsors claim gives them an advantage over local banks.-Reuter
