ALLIES' AGREEMENT TEXT.

GREEKS MUST LEAVE THRACE.

CURZON'S SUCCESS.

Load Curzon, who arrived at London to night, said he hoped a reasonable settlement of the Near Eastern question would be reached. The crisis could be settled only if the Allies acted with complete solidarity: He fraught with considerable risk. The Cabinet meets to- declared that the Allies must overcome a situation

Pants. October 8. The text of the agreement drafted by the conference comprising M. Poincare, Lord Curzon and Signor Galli, to which the British Government hos adhered, is follows: The three allied governments have agreed that Greek troopa should be invited to retire as soon a possible west ul Maritza. In thu territories

evacuated the allied governments will assure, SUCCEES. by menne of provisional iated allied occupation, maintenance of order and security until the establish- ment in East Thrace of a Turkish civil administration andTurkish gendarmerie. This establishment should occur within a month of the withdrawal of the Greek troops. On the expiry of this period, the allied troops will only continue to occupy for the duration of the conference "certain points on the right bank of the Maritza and the districts they occupy at present."

WHY THE GREEKS GAVE WAY.

PARIS, October 8.

A message from Athens states that the Cabinet has instructed the Greek delegates at Mudanis not to give way on questions with regard to Thrace, except in the face of decisions taken by the powera unanimously.

A long tek gram has been received from M. Venizelos giving the result of his interview with M, Poincare and advising Greece to abandon the attitude of absolute intransigeance. This has influenced the decision of the Government to agree to the heavy acrifice of evacuation of Thrace. There is consterna- tion in Athene.

MASSACRE REPORT.

ATHENS, October 8. There is general depression with regard to the situation, which the Cabinet lergthily discussed. After wards the Greek delegates were telegraphed instructions to assumiu a conciliatory attitudė.

France has severely warned the Greek Government against the despatch of reinforcements to Thrace.

The newspaper Hestia publishes a report of a massacre on the Asiatic shore of the Sea of Marmora.

NEUTRAL ZONE VIOLATED.

CONSTANTINOPLE, October 3.

A British communiqué from Ismid states that the neutral zone has been violated at several points: The allied generals have protected. The Turkish forces have not been reinforced on the Chansk front where no artillery is reported to be present.

NORTH BENGAL FLOODS.

THOUSANDS HOMELESS.

DISEASE OUTBREAK FEANED.

CALCUTTA, October 8. Fifteen hundred square miles and 1,500,000 peop are affected by floods in North Bengal. The loss of life appears to be relatively small, but many cattle have posisbed. Crops are destroyed, also many villages.

Thousands of half-starved persons are taking refuge along the railway embankments in order to gain high ground. They are being maintained by relief funds and government (rants.

The floods have began to subside but no immensa area is still inundated. An outbreak of disease, especially cholera, is feared as the waters abate owing. to putrefaction of the carcases of cattle.

RATHENAU MURTER TRIAL.

CHIEF WITNESS POISONED.

BERLIS, October, 8.

A sensational development has occurred in the Rat- benau murder trial at Leipzig. The case will not be able to proceed as the chief witnesses against the accus. ed brothers Techow are ill from eating poisoned chocol- utes sent from Berlin.
