INDIA'S FISCAL POLICY,
LONDON, Septenibar 25.
The report of the fircal-commission as pointed last carby thegovernment of India recommends the adoption of a policy of protection, to be applied with discriminatice, and says that any general system of preference to British products would involve a serious burden which it would not be reasonable for Indis to shoulder while the possi bilities of advantage to India from preferences granted for her exports were limited but India may be in a position in certain cases to grant preferences which will assist British industries and will not cause any appreciable economic lose to India. Any preferences granted to the United Kingdom should be a free gift while as regards other parts of the Empire the principle of reciprocity
should be followed.
