AUSTRALIAN'S NEW PROCESS.

Mr. A. V. Wilkinson, of Campsie, has made a big advance in the adaptation of the three colour process to photographie reproduction. For many years there has Teen very little advance in this work, but Mr. Wilkin- son claims that be bas pericoted aj Process which will not only repro- duce the natural colour of any object, but will also bring the cost of the] completed | riat far below the present figure.

While there are certain feature of A discovery that must remain à einget. Mr. Wilkinson described his procedure, and showed samples of his work in variona atsper.

It is necessary to have three negatives. The ordinary photographic plat is more sensitive to the blue rays than to any other, but it is possible to rewitize a plate so that it records the action of rays of aly desired colour.

The first negativa is taken through a blue screen and registers only the yellow portions; the second, token fbrough a green screer, registers only the blue portions: and the third taken, through a red screen gives only the blus portions of the subj.ct From rach of them plates a print ia taken and stained in its appropriate colour-yellow, red or blue."

All this has been done for many vrata, but the formulas which Mr. Wilkinson uses enables him to strip the thin film- much thinner than that on an ordinary photographic plate- from each of these prints and transfer it on to a paper support so that ex- cept fur the natural colours the
