DISASTER IN BRITISH MIXE.
Losnos. September 8th, The Whitchoven explosion breaks the country's long well of immunity from coal mining disaster.
Most distressing scenes were witnessed at the pit-bed as the multilated bodies were brought to the coriace. In one case, father and two young sons were clasping hands.
To the present, twenty-four bodies have been recovered, some of them so far of the dienster, that it is from Chin practiently impossible the offers exton ed have survived,
In spite of the h. peleas of the situation, relief workers are wraggling most herorially, under the most difficult and dangerous conditions, titulered by collapsing roofs and heavy gas, relays of men working all day and night. As one party relijes, gassed, exhausted and Iaftlet, another resumes the task, of those badly gassed returned after artificial respiration had been rearted to.

GRAECO TURKISH WAR.
CONSTANTINOPLn, September Gil.
All classes of the population are jubilant over the Greek reverses and the prospect of the recovery of Turkey's lost territory in Asia Minor, but there are no arts of hostility to residents of other
natural ties.
It is declared that the Turkish success will not be followed by fresh claims, but en de contrary, Turkey is ready to guarantee the rights of minorities and will nerer in other reasonable conditions com par le with independence and territorial integrity.
Panis. September 8th, Various newspapers arge the necessity of restoration, both of Asia Minor and Thrace, to Turkey.
EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF
BANDITRY.
Pexis, September 6th An interesting story from Tsitsihar illustrates the disturbed conditions at present prevailing in the Chinese Eastern Railways zone, and the dangers of travel there.
An American, Mr. A. J. Park, manager of American Oriental Game Company, of Seattle and Shangliai, proceeded to Teitsihar in July, thener westward along! the Chituse Eastern Railways, in search of live bustards for shipment to America. He heard several stories of Hunghuize outsages in the course of his travels, while, one hand of two hundred brigands raided village within half-a-mile of a railway sation at which he was lodging.
