AMATEUR DETECTIVE CALL

AT A FLAT.

A basband who successfully played the part of a deteclive was Mc. Ernest Albert Beddall Croxford, residing at River View gardens, Barnes, an ins- urance broker, who asked Mr. Justice Salter in the Divorce Court to grant. bir the dissolution of his marriage because of the adultery of his wife Phyllis with a man named Elvin Mott.

A defence had been put in, but was not persisted with, and it was BR- nounced that, the damages, had been agreed at £200.

Mr. Lewis Thomas, K.C., for the husband said potitioner and his wife; had been employed in the same office. The marriage took place in June, 1919, and the parties lived at Madrid-road, Barnes. There were no children. In 1920 the wife exhibited signs of, restlessness, and took a situation in a stockbroker's office against her has band's wishes, and expressed her determination to take a flat with a lady friend, which sho accordingly

did.

He remonstrated with her, and sent one or two affectionate letters point- ing out the impropriety of her conduct, and suggesting what might happen. However, she did not come back. After one letter to her he received a solicitor's letter threatening pro- creding for judicial separation on the ground of alleged cruelty, and although the suit was brought in October, 1920, it was dismissed by Mr. Justice Branson.
