and welcomed on his arrival. He drove through the streets escorted by a guard of

His Majesty the King visited him at President Alvear was decorated with the Argentino Legation. the Grand Cross of the British Empire
he visited Buckingham Palace. Mr. Llosd George presided at Government, dinner in his honour du Thursday, and in his speech dwelt on the intimate friendship existing between Britain and Argentine for the past century.

RUM RUNNING IN AMERICA,
New York, July 22nd. An international brief regarding fifteen British ships, alleged to have been supplying American Amugglers with liquor, has been submitted to Mr. Hughes (Secretary of State), for presentation to Great Britain. It requests the punish- ment of masters and officers of all vessels run-running from the Bahamas.
The Bahamas are a group of British Islands in the West Indies.
