• RENTS ORDINANCE

BASE IN SUMMARY COURT.

A case under the Rants Ordinance in which the Court will be asked to for the standard rent, was mentioned in the Summary Cours this morning, before Mr. Justice J. R. Wood.

The parties concerned were Tam Tan Pong and the Fuk Wing Firm and Lenng Kun Fam

The first named is the owner of the domestic tenment, 69 Wing Lok Street and the defendants are the occupiata. The plaintiff asked for an order of the Court under section 13 of the Rente Ordinance 1931 fixing the monthly rent at $250 per Chinese month and taxes.

Mr. Hind, appearing for the defend ants, explained that defendants had agreed to the rate pat forward by the plaintifs, subject to obtaining the agreement of the sub-tenante to a proportionate increase in their rents. He asked that the case be put over for a week so that he could bring the sub-tenants into Court.

Mr. Vaux, for the plaintiff said be was willing to go on at any time. The presence of the sub-tenants was not į material

Mr. Hind: It is material. The question of the standard rent is affected by the standard rent of the

b-tenants.

His Lordship The standard rent is agreed.

Mr. Hind: It is agreed subject to

reservations.

His Lordship said they could come; be he him in Chambers.
